You Count Too ?:An Address to the well-being, well-educated Thai Middle Class.

Robert Amsterdam told Thai Red-shirt people gathering in February 13, 2011 rally that he and his law firm could not exist in such a world that ignored crime against humanity as he witnessed in last April-May brutal crackdown in Thailand.

A majority of grass-root population in Thailand, and some middle-class portion as well, shared the same sentiment and moved strongly forward to fight for democracy, justice, and universal civil human right.

It is quite astonishing how any decent person in Thailand could live his or her everyday life so comfortably and remain null while all sort of evidence tell incontrovertible truth about brutality and structural injustice in their society.

Even though, it is also crystal clear that the red-shirt people will continue their campaign to restore justice and reform democracy, with or without a helping hand of the well-being, well-educated Thai middle class.

But it is always sad when the well-being, well-educated, non-aristocrat middle-class population who benefits more from their society choose to stand still and see their grass-root partners fall under inhumane military crackdown.

Robert Amsterdam also give a little advice to the Thai red shirts to write “we count too” to the world. The mere fact that ordinary, non-aristocrat Thai does exist is also important and not to be ignored by the world organizations.

It is an appropriate time, and not too late, for the well-being, and well-educated middle class society in Thailand to decide whether they also count and whether or not they will join force with the red-shirt movement towards a historic reform in their society.
